Session 28 - Prolific Pillars and a Dinosaur Duo

After defeating the centaurs, the Forsaken decide to run some reconnaissance on the area around which we believe the maw resides. We see that there are about 30 spires in this square-mile area, as well as a lake. Each spire is 400-600 feet tall, and 200-300 feet wide. The silverwood thins considerably in this area, allowing the spires to penetrate the canopy in the Karst. Some large flying creatures are noticed in the northern reaches by our raven scouts. As we proceed through the forest, a pack of wild hounds attack us! They are larger than average hounds and covered in moss and bark and such. We dispatch the vine dogs without much trouble, ensuring that none escape to spread tales of our incursion.

We proceed on in the same direction, as the afternoon grows long. We soon approach a small spire. Seeing no notable signs or ways of ingress, we continue on. The next spire we reach is quite tall, and a brief smell of death wafts past us. Alert, we continue on. We pass more spires without incident or noteworthy diversions. As night approaches, we bed down and begin watch near a spire. Picket is on first watch when he hears a suspicious noise and wakes up the party. A gigantic t-rex looking motherfucker approaches and the party forms up in battle formation. Amadeus flies up to the nearby tower and drops a rope, which Tim and Xander climb, while Picket flies up as well. Valak and Grim engage the t-rex in melee combat while the rest of the party blasts it from the safety of the tower. Suddenly, a second dino appears! The first t-rex scoops up Valak in its gaping maw, and also tries to tail-swipe him somehow. Soon thereafter, Pretor blasts the initial t-rex into chunks as Valak falls out of its mouth. Valak and Grim then engage the second dino in close-quarters while the rest of the party blasts it from afar. Soon enough, the second reptile lies dead at our feet. Licking our wounds, we strip any valuable body parts from the large carnivores and continue our rest.
