The XP Pool

Post by Dave » Tue Nov 21, 2017 10:43 pm

The creation of an XP pool was brought up tonight. This post will start the discussion on how it will work. You guys chime in as you like.

We will make a final decision on how it will run at the next session.
————

Players may donate XP to a general pool that can then be distributed to either Grimnok or Tim.

Donations are entirely voluntary, and must be made when the XP are first awarded.

Donations to the pool must be distributed immediately.

Any source of XP may be awarded.

XP awarded to Grimnok will increase his traits in some as of yet undetermined way. He will become more monstrous somehow. I’ll crank out a table or something.

XP awarded to Tim will be applied towards progression in whatever class you guys choose, as per PH, just like y’all are.

For game purposes, Tim will be unable to gain levels until after he leaves the area of the Nine Trials. Grimnok can gain XP the next time it is awarded to you.

Thoughts?

Ballpark swing at a progression table for Grimnok.

XP "Level"
300 2 +1d10 (+con) HP
900 3 +1 AC
2700 4 +1 Str
6500 5 +1 to hit, STR and CON saves
14000 6 + 2d10 (+con) HP
23000 7 +2 AC
34000 8 +2 Con
48000 9 +2 to hit, STR and CON saves
64000 10 +3d10 (+con) HP

All bumps are cumulative. So at level 10, Grimnok would have a total of +6d10 (+con) HP, +3 AC (natural toughening of skin), +1 STR (bringing his score to 20), +2 CON (that score to 18), and a +3 to hit, and STR and CON saves in addition to his current stats.

I think it captures the basic idea.

As for return on investment for your XP? What do you guys think?
