The Greater Geas

Post by Dave » Mon Mar 26, 2018 10:52 pm

First, this can be taken at face value. There is no tomfoolery here.

Arkov- will provide you support to succeed in your mission of recovering the Tears of Achlys. He will help supply you with the materials you need in this mission, within reason of course (he is not going to be buying you any magic items or stuff like that), to include things like use of his minions (assassins, thieves, spies, fences, various seedy types, etc.) and a safe house while in town (you are to use the secret tunnel and fake house down the hill for entrance). He will get you what you need as quickly as he can. As long as you dont do anything blatantly evil in town, he will help get you out of trouble. He will feed you whatever information he can that directly pertains to your mission.

All of this help will be to the best of his capabilities.

He will not be traveling with you guys, and will not be stepping foot into the Horn when you find it. Hell, he wont be leaving the city or probably even his manor unless he really has to.

He will also not try to kill you or have you killed, by action or inaction.

The Forsaken- will provide him with the means to render 10 people of his choosing immune from the Tears of Achlys.

The Forsaken will also not try to harm him directly or by inaction cause harm to befall him.

And The Forsaken will keep his secrets to themselves, and will never try to expose him to anyone.

This sound about right?

Agreed.

Xander relays to the group as they retire to the inn:

"In regards to the White Raven & Co, they will stay in the inn we have set up for them. They are not moving into the safe house nor the "Fake House". Does everyone agree with that? As far as they are concerned, we convinced him to help us for his own reasons and they are working with us in town."

Correct, and I want to make it a point to them that until we complete our contract with him, do not harm him. After our task is done, do what you will.

Be careful of the area around the orphanage, his spy network is deep. Expect he will be on to your activities, and use that to your advantage.

Been hammering on this for a while now, and I think its done.
—————-
Greater Geas

8th Level Enchantment

Casting Time: 10 minutes (Ritual)
Range: 30ft
Components: V, M (a drop of blood from each creature entering the contract, which is dripped directly on a gem not worth less that 10,000gp. The gem is consumed in the casting.)
Duration: Permanent until all conditions of the contract are met.

You enter into a magical contract with other willing creatures in range of the spell, and who have bled on the required gem.

The terms to the contract must be agreed to by all who are entering it, or the casting fails.

If the terms of the contract are fulfilled, the Greater Geas ends. All who were part of it’s casting know that the contract was fulfilled.

If the terms of the contract are broken, the creatures who break it suffer the following immediate effects:

10d8 psychic damage- there is no save, and no resistance against this damage.
Stunned for 1d4 rounds- no save.

The following long term effects are permanent until all members of either party in the now broken contract are dead:

All attacks by those who broke the contract against those that kept the terms are at disadvantage.
Breakers also have disadvantage on saving throws from keepers spells and effects.

All beings who were part of the casting know if the terms of the contract were broken.

The Greater Geas itself and the long term effects of breaking it cannot be removed by any means short of Wish or Divine Intervention. If the Greater Geas is removed for a single being involved in the casting, it is removed for all. All beings who were part of the casting know if the Greater Geas was removed.
