The Wardens
The Wardens can best be described as a loosely organized, worldwide group of adventurers and assorted folks who serve the Greater Good.
There are four divisions-
High Command- this term is somewhat of a misnomer. HC provides far more support and guidance than leadership. Mostly made up of retired adventurers still looking to be helpful and ex-military who still want to serve a cause.
HC provides the communication and coordination in times of need.
Reconnaissance- rangers and scouts of all kinds. They gather information outside of the borders of civilization.
Intelligence- rogues and spies. They gather information within the borders of civilization. Sages and diviners help put things together.
Operations- adventurers doing adventures. Parties are independent operators for the most part. During the Fire Axe’s invasion they were instrumental in recapturing Everard and the Lionsgate. They also assisted the Church of Avenar during the Plague of Tears.
How it works- adventurers “register” with the Wardens. The Wardens then pass along tips whenever they find out about something they think needs to be looked into/taken care of. Adventurers look into/take care of whatever the something was and report back.
The Wardens also supply registered adventurers with a variety of services and types of support, depending on the region- access to healing and magical services, coupons for Goya’s, places to rest and recover.
***Deep Lore- the Wardens predate the Arre campaign. Early nineties. Any similarity between them and the Harpers is purely coincidental. They have always been meant to be in the background. They got a big tweezing during TWotW campaign. Scott Alexander gets the credit for the form it takes now. He was a Co-DM during the first couple of Books. They were made up of rangers and thieves originally. Scott added the idea of a High Command and the divisions thing.
